Emery's 2nd Birthday Party
9/28/2016
Can someone explain to me how my little baby is 2 years old now?!
I figured this year was probably going to be one of the last birthday party of hers where I can pick what the theme is. We all know it will be Paw Patrol and Princess Parties for years to come, haha!
She loves animals, so I decided to go with a "Pastel Animal" theme. I figured it was simple enough and you can't go wrong with pastels.
I have only pinned spray painted plastic animals on Pinterest a million times, so I figured it was time to actually try it out. I found most of the spray paint colors at Home Depot. Pastel Purple was harder to find and I actually ended up getting enamel spray from Michaels.
I suggest to do light coats to help the animals to dry faster & it prevents them from getting sticky.

I think we created a macaron monster! Emery absolutely loved the macarons from Whipped Up Baked Goods. Okay actually everyone loved them, I got so many questions about where I got them. The Mint Chocolate Chip might have been my favourite. If you are in the #YEG area you need to check them out! Kandace is the sweetest girl, and so very talented!
I noticed that Anthropologie at WEM always had the most beautiful flowers at their events, and upon further research I discovered they were from Fleurs Flowers.
Emery and I both love flowers, so I knew that their florals needed to be at her birthday party. I told them about the theme of the party and sent a few pictures of past arrangements they did that I loved. They dreamed up the most gorgeous arrangements in the prettiest rose gold vases. Their shop is so fun & has a gorgeous flower wall inside. Besides making beautiful floral arrangements, they also offer all sorts of fun workshops.
I made homemade pastel play dough for the party favours. It was really easy and fairy inexpensive. We had leftover mason jars from our wedding favours that I used. I glued little plastic animals on the lids and then spray painted them. For the play dough I used this recipe. It was so easy, fast and it was fun to make pastel colors.

Ombre Cakes were another thing on my Pinterest to Do List. I am no baker by any means but I do love being creative. I just used a Betty Crocker white cake box mix, poured it into three different bowls. I then added red food colouring to each bowl, increasing the number of drops. For example the first bowl (which would be the first layer) had two drops, the second bowl would have four drops, etc. Those aren't the exact measurements, I just kind of eye balled it. It ended up being pretty subtle, so if you want it to be a bigger contrast I would add more drops.

I was having a hard time finding a Party Shop that carried Confetti Balloons and that wasn't too far away. I was so happy when Heather & Gem Party shop popped up on my Instagram feed. The confetti balloons added a fun element to the party, and the kids loved them! She also carries tons of other fun party supplies, including the cake topper.
It was so fun putting this birthday party together for our sweet girl. I love how excited she was about everything, and seeing all her loved ones. She especially was stoked about everyone singing Happy Birthday to her, it was so sweet to watch! We are so blessed by this beautiful girl, and Emery is so blessed by all those who love her!
I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know if you have any questions about anything!

Sleep Sacks with Aden + Anais
9/12/2016
I don't know about you other Mamas but when I first got pregnant I got straight up lost in the world of Instagram finding all the best, hippest & cutest baby brands. It's pretty much an endless selection out there which is exciting but also a bit overwhelming. I have come to find some brands that I really trust. One of my all time favourite brands is Aden + Anais.
Probably my all time favourite products from them is their sleeping bags. Sleep sacks (another term for them) have been such life saver in our parenting world. If you haven't heard about them before, basically it's a little sleeping bag that your baby wears to bed. It keeps them warm, bundled up & my favourite part is you don't have to worry about them getting cold in the night. You don't have to keep going in there and putting their blankets back on.
They also offer they cutest prints around, I love this Midnight print. They are also made out of the softest & coziest muslin material.
There are a few other brands that make sleep sacks but the Aden + Anais ones are my favourite. They offer a range of thickness (Tog to be more specific, the higher the Tog rating the warmer it is), and I love that they have a zipper. I find ones with snaps, Emery can easily get out of them.
Well Mamas & Papas, have you tried out sleep sacks before? I highly recommend them! I am going to be sad when Emery outgrows them. Let me know what your thoughts are. I also rounded up some of my favourite prints of theirs below!

Fall Trends- Maxi Dresses
9/10/2016
I'm sharing another fall trend with Anthropologie today. We are talking about maxi dresses. I think a lot of people think you can only wear maxi dresses during the summer time, but you can definitely wear them into the fall & even into winter.
Step one of wearing your maxi into fall is adding layers. Kind of no brainer, right? This Vegan Leather Moto jacket adds the perfect edgy touch to this feminine dress. I also like where the jacket hits me, you don't want it to be too long.
This Herbaliste Maxi Dress from Anthropologie is just stunning. The details on it are so beautiful & I love the tiered style.
A few other ways you can transition your maxi dresses into fall is by swapping out your Birkenstocks for booties, and adding a pair of tights.
I've linked to a few other beautiful maxi dresses below. Too many beauties not share with you all!

Fall Trends-Bomber Jackets
9/07/2016
I'm really excited to have teamed up with my local Anthropologie to share some fall trends with you! The first trend is Bomber jackets. I'm not sure if you have noticed but they seem to be popping up everywhere, I even saw some mini ones for E. They are great transitional piece to take into fall.
The details on this Laced High-Neck blouse are so beautiful. One of my favourite things about Anthropologie is finding beautiful and unique pieces like this one.
This pale pink bomber from Anthropologie is not only incredibly cute but so soft! I adore all the details on it, which includes pretty striped lining. It's an easy piece to throw on with your favourite pair of jeans and a pretty top, and instantly looked pulled together.
I love pairing different textures together like shown here. The lace top layered with the soft jacket creates a fun contrast, as well as the suede purse. The little tassel detail on the purse is so fun!
Have you tried Anthropologie's Pilcro Stet Ankle Jeans before? They are designed exclusively for Anthropologie and are easily one of my favourite styles of jeans. They are a little bit of higher rise which I appreciate and I love how they hit at the ankle. It's a real treat for a shortie like me to find jeans you don't have hem or awkwardly bunch up.
The bomber jacket is such an easy & timeless trend. Bomber jackets have been around for decades for a reason.
What trends are you excited about fall?

Chefs Plate
9/06/2016
I noticed quite a few of my friends had been testing out this thing called Chefs Plate. I started to have some serious FOMO and decided I better test it out for myself.
The low down is you pick from their original recipes, they deliver exactly what you need for the meal and you create the dinner following their simple steps.
As a Mom with a busy and lets be honest whiny toddler, going to the grocery store or meal planning does not come easy. This sounded like a dream come true!
All the ingredients came in a cute little cooler box with the frozen goodies on the bottom (with ice packs) and the other goodies in corresponding bags. You don't have to be home when they deliver it which is nice.
Each meal comes with an easy to follow recipe card including prep time, cook time & the rundown on the meal. The first one I tried was the Avocado & Black Bean Tostadas.
Everything comes measured out to the right proportion sizes already, which is awesome. You just have to wash, cut and prep the ingredients. Oh and cook them, haha!
These Avocado & Black Bean Tostadas were seriously delicious. I would have never thought of making something like this, and they would be perfect for any vegetarian in your life too! It was super easy and didn't take very long to make at all!
Next up was the Seared Salmon with Caesar salad. Now I was a little more nervous about this one because I always overcook my salmon and it ends up disgusting. I usually cook mine in the oven but this one you cook in a pan. I followed the directions exactly as it suggested.
It was amazing, it worked so well! This salmon was absolutely delicious! I was so proud of myself and felt so fancy! Haha! I served it to my Dad who is a pro at cooking & catching salmon, and he even said that it was delicious!
One tip I would suggest is if you pick something with an Avocado or something similar, maybe just grab an extra one from the grocery store just in case. Avocados are so hard to know if they are overripe or not ripe, so it would be good to have a back up. Plus I just love me some avocado, so a little extra was fine by me!
The lovely people at Chefs Plate were kind enough to give me a coupon code to share with you all, enter #KASTLES to receive 3 FREE PLATE CREDITS off your first order with them.
Please let me know what you think if you test it out!

Summer Adventures
9/05/2016
I can't be the only one that is so sad for summer to be over, right? I mean I love PSL's, cozy sweaters & cute boots as much as the next fashion blogger but summer is so fun! Our little family had lots of fun adventures. Here is a little photo diary of our summer together.
She is such a little water baby. Also can we just talk about this adorable bikini?
See what I mean, just loves playing in the water.
These two, I mean can they get any cuter?
We spent a long weekend at our cabin, which Em absolutely loved! No cars or roads, so she could just run around as much as she wanted. Plus she loved going in the lake, even though it was freezing!
We spent a week in Montana with my husbands family. Emery absolutely had a blast with all her cousins, it was so cute watching them play together! We went paddle boarding (our brother-in-law owns Paddle Board Outfitters, if you are ever in the Kalispell are check them out!) and I didn't even fall in!
We are already missing our family adventures in the warm summer sun. And especially missing Dada as he went back to work last week.
I hope you all had an amazing summer! Thanks for reading along on our little adventure!
