Travel Alberta: Ma-Me-O Beach
8/17/2017
This summer we have done a few mini road trips around Alberta. There are so many hidden gems in this amazing province we live in. We traveled down to Ma-Me-O Beach, just south of Edmonton. It's about an hour away, which is a good amount of time when you are traveling with a baby and toddler. We met up with Aaron's siblings & their kids, plus his Mom and Dad.
Even though there is some shaded spots on the beach, the shade kept moving. Having this little pop-up tent was awesome. I just picked the top seller under baby tents on Amazon. It does get a little warm inside, so try and position it so you can get a little breeze through the back vent.
The beach is perfect for babies, toddlers and smaller children. It has some shade with trees near the back, sand and rocks which are both always a hit with my girl, and the best part is the shallow water. The water is shallow for what seems like miles out. You don't have to worry about the kids going over their heads. It was also pretty clear water, which was nice.
We brought our trusty DockATot which was awesome to have for Alder to hang out in. He could just spread out and kick, and had a few naps in it. I will be doing a whole blog post on this awesome thing later this month, so keep your eyes peeled.
Emery's adorable swimsuit is from Shop The Skinny. It's on sale right now, so you should go scoop one up! If you haven't been to their shop in Kingsway Mall, you need to go check it out! So many beautiful goodies for the whole family, plus it's just the most gorgeous space!
Obviously the best part about coming to the beach is getting Ice Cream, haha! There is a cute ice cream shop ran by the sweetest man right by the sign to the beach. Emery ended up dropping her ice cream cone. I went to pay for another one, and he just gave me a brand new one for free. He said he only did it for the kids though, haha!
This beach is definitely one we will be going back to. I just love watching Emery play on the beach with her cousins, and I can't wait till Alder is old enough to join her. So many fun memories!
Cheers to summer & ice cream!
Where are some of your favourite places to go to in Alberta? Let me know!

Summer Adventures
9/05/2016
I can't be the only one that is so sad for summer to be over, right? I mean I love PSL's, cozy sweaters & cute boots as much as the next fashion blogger but summer is so fun! Our little family had lots of fun adventures. Here is a little photo diary of our summer together.
She is such a little water baby. Also can we just talk about this adorable bikini?
See what I mean, just loves playing in the water.
These two, I mean can they get any cuter?
We spent a long weekend at our cabin, which Em absolutely loved! No cars or roads, so she could just run around as much as she wanted. Plus she loved going in the lake, even though it was freezing!
We spent a week in Montana with my husbands family. Emery absolutely had a blast with all her cousins, it was so cute watching them play together! We went paddle boarding (our brother-in-law owns Paddle Board Outfitters, if you are ever in the Kalispell are check them out!) and I didn't even fall in!
We are already missing our family adventures in the warm summer sun. And especially missing Dada as he went back to work last week.
I hope you all had an amazing summer! Thanks for reading along on our little adventure!

Emery is almost a year & a half, and during that whole time there hasn't been one night where I have slept through the night without listening to the monitor or waking up the next morning when I wanted to get up. This is mostly due to the fact that Emery has only been breastfed & mainly depended on me during the night. The other week my Mom asked me if I wanted to have a mini staycation and stay at the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald with her for the weekend. My first reaction was to say no out of the Mom guilt (Mom guilt is a real pain & it sucks) I felt and so I mentioned it my husband to gauge his reaction. Of course I was being silly and he was all for it! It was perfect timing as we had just weaned E's morning feed out (which is a whole other story) so Aaron could manage without me. So I packed my bags and headed to downtown Edmonton for a fun weekend away.
The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald holds lots of special memories for me. When I was a little girl my Aunt and Uncle had their wedding here & I was the flower girl. My Mom, sister and I have also spent many girls weekends at the Fairmont & exploring downtown. One of my favourite memories is spending my wedding night here with my hubby. We had an afternoon reception so we actually got to check into the hotel earlier in the day and had a romantic dinner in the Harvest Room. We have also celebrated our anniversary at the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald as well. Also did I mention it's pretty much a castle? Needless to say, I love this place!
The first night we stayed in, put on our pjs, ordered room service and watched a movie. Is it just me or when you order late night room service do you end up ordering more food then you can eat? Haha! If only I could always have a delicious mimosa and truffle popcorn delivered to me in bed!
The next morning I slept in till past 9 and woke up on my own with no baby crying on the monitor, it was awesome to say the least! Before we started our big day of shopping (what else would we be doing) we ordered in breakfast. Eggs Benny at the Fairmont Hotels is always a good and solid choice. I honestly think I could eat it everyday!
We finally got ready for the day and headed out to explore downtown. First we went to the Edmonton Public Library annual book sale. We have been going to this book sale for a long time. This year I stocked up on board books for Emery. The books are gently used and you can't go wrong with the books only being a dollar!
After that I got my Instagram Mom (if you haven't seen the video Instagram Husband, you need to) to snap some blog photos. We went and dropped off our books back at the hotel, and off we went again. No girls trip could be complete without stopping at Holt Renfrew. We had a quick bite to eat in their cafe and then explored the store. Our favourite part is always the beauty section (it always fits right?). A little shout out to our girl Maureen at the Sisley booth who was amazing, seriously go see her! We made a quick stop at our favourite store, Swish Vintage & then headed back to the hotel to change for dinner.
For dinner we walked over to Zinc, the restaurant inside the AGA gallery. It was amazing to say the least, so good! When we got back to the hotel, we went and had a nice swim & soak in the hot tub in the Fitness Centre. We called it an early night & went to bed.
On Sunday morning we had reservations for the Sunday brunch in the Empire Ballroom. This brunch buffet I am constantly dreaming about. It is seriously one of my favourite things of all time! There is an endless supply of Eggs Benny, the mimosas are flowing and there is a crepe station! I forgot to mention earlier that we were celebrating my Mom's birthday, so they were so sweet & brought her over a piece of birthday cake with a candle.
We headed out onto the terrace before we left to snap some outfit photos & lucked out with the beautiful weather. It was such an amazing, fun & relaxing weekend with my Mama! I seriously encourage you to go out and explore your own city for a mini vacation, it's lots of fun!

This is the last of the Palm Springs photos. It's so nice to be able to take a break in the middle of winter & pull out some of my favourite summer pieces. This tank top was in constant rotation when I was pregnant (the back is stretchy jersey) & is still awesome postpartum. Sadly it is sold out, but this one is pretty similar. Also there is something so fun about wearing a poncho with fringe. The last time I wore this poncho, I was super pregnant.
Are you planning any winter getaways to warm destinations?
