Mini & Me Style
1/27/2017
As you might be able to tell, dressing up Emery is one of my favourite things to do. Currently she still lets me pick out her outfits, haha! I know that will change soon enough. One of my favourite places to get her clothes is from the Gap and Old Navy. They have the most adorable clothes around, and they always have great sales. I would definitely recommend signing up for their emails because they always send special promos & codes to their email subscribers.
I also love picking out clothes for myself from the Gap and Old Navy as well. Buying denim from the Gap is my favourite place to buy jeans for our family. They have a huge selection of sizes, styles, and colors. I love how it's a one stop shop for the whole family.
This first set of pictures was from the fall when I was still hiding my baby belly. I could still button up these jeans, and I was into flowy tops like this blouse from Old Navy. Cozy sweaters are always a win in my books, especially when they have pockets. Seriously why does anything with pockets make it a million times better? Haha!
Let's just stop for a minute and talk about how adorable Emery is. I might be a little bias, haha! This hat and that sweater, and her little ripped jeans are just too much!
Flash forward a few months later, and we are both still rocking these jeans. I just undo the button & loop an elastic band through it. Thankfully the Gap has an awesome selection of maternity jeans when even the elastic band trick won't work, haha!
I usually buy Emery's clothes a size or two larger so they last awhile. You can always roll up the sleeves or cuff the pants up. These matching sweaters are actually from Old Navy from last year, and it still fits Emery. I just layered a tank top underneath for a little bit of extra length. Old Navy usually has matching things for Mama and daughter, which of course is so fun and hard to resist! I have my eye on these cute swing dresses for Mama and mini!
Where do you find jeans for your family?

Aveda's Rosemary Mint
1/18/2017
I have such fond memories of sleeping over at my Nana and Baba's house. It would usually involve playing with my Mom's old Barbies, watching movies with Root Beer floats, reading old Archie comics and getting my hair washed in the sink.
I loved laying down on the counter and having Nana wash my hair. She would always use Aveda's Rosemary Mint Shampoo and Conditioner. I remember that refreshing smell and how good my hair would feel afterwards.
Naturally I was so excited to try out this wonderful line again. The shampoo and conditioner are just as I remember, so lovely. The smell is so invigorating and refreshing, it's definitely great for waking you up. As a Mama, anything that helps wake me up is an added bonus.
Both products are light, and don't leave my hair feeling weighed down or heavy. I've been finding my hair on the greasier side this pregnancy so this duo is great for feeling lighter and clean.
I was super excited to see they had some skin care products to their Rosemary Mint line. The body polish is great at exfoliating without being too rough. It leaves your skin tingly and refreshed from the mint.
The hand relief moisturizing creme is great for throwing in your purse, and adds a little moisture and pep when your out on the go.
Have you ever tried the Aveda Rosemary Mint line before? Let me know!

Making It Work
1/16/2017
During my last pregnancy, most of it was spent in the spring and summer. Which means my maternity style was a lot different and a little bit easier. I mostly just wore dresses. So this time I have had to be a little more creative and just make it work.
For items like tights I have just been buying a couple sizes of larger then normal. For items like sweaters, I have been gravitating to more stretchy knits and longer styles. This way they can grow with the bump and be worn with leggings.
Also accessories are a pregnant girls best friend, they always fit! Haha!
Fellow baby Mamas, how did you dress your bump? Share any tips you might have please!

Keep Glowing
1/13/2017
As much as I
love Christmas and all the fun that comes with it, I am happy for a fresh start
with a New Year. The last couple of months have been nuts and I am ready to
slow down and focus on the things that matter most.
With the New
Year, Almay challenged me to start it off right with a list of resolutions to
ensure I #KeepGlowing from the inside out! My ultimate goal for 2017 is to take
better care of myself, and spend more quality time with my family.
In order to
#KeepGlowing through the New Year, I plan on:
1. Eating
a healthier breakfast. Plain toast and black tea are not a substantial
breakfast to give me enough energy to chase after my toddler throughout the
day. I'm hoping to make more smoothies filled with fruits and veggies, as well
as some pre-made breakfasts like overnight oats. Or actually adding more
nutritional value to my toast by incorporating things like avocado, tomatoes,
eggs, etc. If you have any awesome breakfast recipes that are easy and healthy,
please share!
2. Taking
time to put myself together each day. This includes getting dressed in
something that makes me feel beautiful and taking time to shower and do my
make-up. Using Almay's New Healthy Glow Makeup + Self Tan is such an easy way
to look radiant with minimal effort. It gives you medium coverage that perfects
the look of your skin while you wear it, and gives you a streak-free, natural
glow after your remove it. I love how this product helps to simplify my
everyday beauty routine and keeps me looking radiant around the clock!
3. Remove
my make-up before bed each night. Since I plan on taking care of myself
from the inside out , I need to make sure I actually take off my make-up and
wash my face each night. Removing my make-up is so much better for my skin and
is so easy to do, especially with the help of Almay’s Eye Make-Up Remover Pads
& Oil Free Gentle Makeup Remover Towelettes. It will really keep my skin feeling
hydrated, soothed, and ready for the next day!
4. Slowing
down and spending more intentional time with my little family. I feel like
there are always things to do on my never ending list, and you know what things
will always be on that list. My little girl won't be little forever – she grows
more and more each day and spending intentional time with her should be a
priority. This also includes spending time with all three of us together,
without checking or phones or being distracted. This could be as easy as
sitting down and reading stories together, doing a craft, going for a walk or
something extra fun like going tobogganing.
What are
your New Year’s resolutions? How do you plan to #KeepGlowing throughout 2017?
Please let me know! I would love to hear your goals!

Vintage Doll Bed DIY with Thread Count Fabrics
1/11/2017
I am so excited to finally share this blog post with you. This post is long over due, and I have had lots of questions in regards to our Pregnancy announcement post about the doll bed & dresses. Without further adieu, here are all the details.
I was on the search all summer for a vintage doll bed for Emery's baby doll. I was so excited when we found this vintage doll bed on our Montana trip. It was only $10! I had great visions for giving it a makeover, especially since the paint was chipping (probably lead paint), the mattress was lumpy and the board underneath was stained.
Obviously, I had to find the perfect fabric to make a new mattress with. Enter Thread Count Fabrics. If you live in Edmonton you know our fabric store selection is pitiful, or really most places in Canada. I was so excited to find Thread Count Fabrics. They have an amazing selection of modern fabrics, including fabrics by my favourite illustrator Anna Rifle. The Rifle Paper Co. Fabrics are so beautiful and the creations you can make with them are endless!
Another thing I really love about Thread Count Fabrics is that it's run by a Mama who has two little girls. She started sewing Halloween costumes for them, and saw the void there was online for Modern Fabrics in Canada. There Thread Count Fabrics was born. I love following her on Instagram to see the latest fabrics and inspiration. I can't recommend her site and fabrics enough!
I was drawn to the Les Fleurs Collection in particular. Besides creating a new little mattress for her doll bed, I thought it would be fun to make matching dresses for Emery and her doll. The clothes those dolls come with are not cute, haha!
A little background on me for a second, I actually went to school for Fashion Design & Apparel. So I have a pretty good background in sewing but it had been many, many years since I had worked on any serious projects.
Knowing it had been awhile since my last sewing project, I wanted to keep things simple. My friend from Kneesocksandgoldilocks is always raving about Heidi & Finn patterns, so I took her advice and tried out one of them. I picked out the Pumpkin Spice dress & tunic pattern, and it was very straightforward and easy. Also very cute!
To create the doll dress, I just shrunk the pattern pieces using my photocopier to the appropriate size. It took me a couple of tries to get it right. Let me tell you, I have mad respect for all those Etsy shop owners who make dolls and doll clothes. It is hard sewing that small! I did most of it on the machine and it took a lot of trial and error. I used a velcro closure on the back so it would be easier for Emery to take the dress off if she wanted.
For the mattress, I just used a very simple and easy tutorial I found on Pinterest. You basically cut out a few rectangle pieces of fabric. I just traced my board (which my husband just cut me out a new piece of plywood to replace that gross board as shown above) to determine the size, plus added extra for some seam allowance. It's really just some basic stitching with some trimming. It does show options for adding buttons if you wanted. I started to add them but didn't like the look since I made my mattress quite thick. Depending on how thick you want your mattress to be, will determine if the buttons will work or not.
For the rest of the bed, we just sanded it down and repainted it using a basic white paint from Home Depot. It just turned out so darn cute, and I love that it will be a Heirloom piece that my daughter can hopefully pass down to her kids.
This project definitely got my creative juices flowing again. I'm already dreaming of new projects with all the new pretty fabrics Thread Count has been getting in. I mean look at this Alice in Wonderland collection from Rilfe Paper Co.?!
Are you a sewer, or DIYer? What fun projects are you working on these days?

Maternity Style- Bell Sleeves
1/02/2017
Oh Maternity style, we are here once again. Flowy tops are definitely a girls best friend during the first trimester. Your starting to show a little bit but are still keeping it a secret. I especially love the details on this Rayne Swing Top from Anthropologie. I find the lace details help draw your eyes upwards and distract you from the growing belly.
Also can we talk about these beautiful sleeves? Not to mention how fun bell sleeves are to wear! Haha!
Have you tried out anything with bell sleeves yet? Also fellow preggos, what are your tips for dressing in the first trimester?
