Snapchat & Spring
4/25/2016
If you follow me on Snapchat (kastlescamponi), you will know two things: 1.) My iMac starting going on the fritz last week and 2.) Emery & I were a little under the weather. Hence the lack of appearance on this little corner of the Internet. Thankfully my hubby is a bit of a nerd & could fix our computer temporally so I could edit and save some photos.
Now onto more important things like this Aili peasant top from Anthropologie. I adore the black and white print, and it's perfect for spring. It's not too heavy for the unusual heat wave that we have been having in Edmonton. I can't wait to pair it with a pair of my favourite shorts either. Now I just have to work on getting my legs ready for shorts, haha!
I hope your week is off to a wonderful start!

Easy Veggie Square Appetizer
4/15/2016
I almost always get stuck when trying to decide what to bring to a potluck. My bible study was having a potluck this week and it was an appetizer theme. One of my best friends reminded me of these veggie squares that I've made before. It's actually a recipe from my sweet Nana. I grew up eating these at all sorts of family events. They are easy to make, taste delicious and bring out a little bit of nostalgia.
Ingredients:
-Raw veggies of your choice, I usually use: a bell pepper, broccoli, cauliflower
-1/4 cup grated carrot
-1/4-1/2 cup of finely chopped fresh parsley
-1 can of Pillsbury crescent rolls
-1 container of cream cheese at room temperature (whipped cream cheese makes it even easier)
-1/4 cup of mayonnaise (I use olive oil mayo)
-a dash of lemon juice
Directions:
1.) Open up Pillsbury crescent rolls and roll them out onto a greased cookie sheet. Some of the rolls will fall apart, so just pinch them together. Basically you want to create one giant rectangular sheet made of crescent rolls.
2.) Bake according to directions. Keep an eye on it near the end so you don't over bake it.
3.) Chop and dice your veggies while it's baking.
4.) Whip together the cream cheese, mayo, chopped parsley and dash of lemon juice. Depending on how much parsley you like, you can add 1/4 cup or 1/2 cup.
5.) Let crescent roll sheet cool.
6.) Spread cream cheese mixture onto the crescent roll sheet.
7.) Press your desired veggies into the cream cheese mixture.
8.) Top it with the grated carrot. You can also add little bit of chopped parsley if desired.
9.) Let cool in fridge for 1-2 hours.
10.) Cut into desired square sizes of your choice.
Enjoy!
I'm so excited it's Friday! I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Current Favourite Beauty Products
4/14/2016
It's been awhile since I've shared with you lovely readers my favourite beauty products. So here is a round up of my favourite beauty products as of lately. They are quickly becoming my new obsession. Let me know what you are obsessed with down below. I love hearing about new products!
Rodial was just introduced to me, and I have been testing out a few of their products. They have a lot of great skin products but also some equally awesome beauty ones. This blush has become my favourite colour for spring. It's a perfect coral colour that goes on velvety and not too heavy. It also has antioxidants and emollient ingredients in it, which is great for the skin.
I usually get stuck wearing the same nude or brown shades when it comes to eyeshadows. I use to be more adventurous when it comes to eyeshadows, so I have been trying to step up my eyeshadow game again. When I saw this beautiful set of colours from CHANEL, I had to test it out. The purple shade is super pretty on, and I like how there are two medium tones to colour and contour. Plus they give you a light shade for highlighting and a darker one to intensify. I love when things are set up for me like that!
Now there are several YouTube stars who are amazing at contouring and sculpting everything, including lips. I am not even close to being that talented but totally interested in experimenting when it comes to contouring. Thankfully MAKEUP FOREVER just released a few new products that makes contouring & sculpting easier for the rest of us. The Pro Sculpting Lip is a double ended tool that helps create the illusion of fuller looking lips. Basically you use the one end that has an opaque semi-matte colour then follow it up with the other end which has an iridescent powder-to-cream highlighter that adds volume and shape to your lips. It's a really fun tool to experiment with and this colour was a nice change from my usual pink tones.
YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis a Levres' Glossy Stain in 33 Bourgogne Artistique
YSL Beauty products continue to impress me. I last talked about YSL Beauty in my post about pink lipsticks for spring, which you can read here. The Glossy Stain from YSL is an all in one lip product. It's a gloss, stain and lipstick. Looking at it initially I thought it would be super thick and sticky. It was surprisingly lightweight and went on so smooth. The colour of this gloss is beautiful and very pigmented. It's also a super intense colour so I usually go light with my other make up when wearing this product. I'm intrigued to try it in other colours.

Until recently, I wasn't even aware that Shu Uemura had hair products. I thought they just carried make-up products. I've been using their eyelash curler for a very long time, so I was excited to try out some of their hair products. I absolutely love this finishing spray! It it is like hair spray but not sticky or stiff at all. It holds shape and allows your hair to move, and it smells delightful. A little heads up though, it's a very powerful spray. As in, when it comes out of the can it is a strong blast of spray.
This primer from Dermalogica has become an everyday favourite. I always follow up with this after applying my daily moisturizer. It goes so smooth and honestly makes my skin feel so velvety. It also really does make my pores way less noticeable and doesn't make my skin feel sticky at all.
Have you tried any of these products? What did you think? Let me know!

The Latest in Korean Skincare - Snails
4/08/2016
When I first heard about the latest in Korean Skincare, I was a little weirded out. We are talking about escargot here people. More specifically snail mucus filtrate. Originally when companies were advertising about products containing snail mucus filtrate, they would not blatantly advertise what the main product was, mostly because lets be honest it sounds gross. Now that it has been around awhile in Korea with consumers really seeing results, and is starting to pick up in North America companies have been more blatant advertising about what the magic ingredients are.
I am pretty open minded when it comes to trying new products, so I thought I would be brave and give the snails a shot. Mostly I just tried not to think too much about what was going on my skin, and went for it.
The two snail products I tested out are:
Both of these products have black ginseng and 24K gold flakes in them, which makes them feel even fancier. Along with the snail mucus filtrate, the black ginseng and 24K gold is suppose to improve elasticity, add nourishment, promote healthier skin and add radiance.
I used both of these products before bed. If you are worried about these products smelling weird because of the snail ingredients, you don't have to worry! They didn't smell weird or funky at all, they actually smelt nice.
Usually when I use toner, I use a cotton pad and rub it all over my face. With this Escargot toner, it actually says to pump 3-4 drops in your hand & pat it on your face. This way it absorbs into your skin better. I followed it with the serum, and found it was a great combo! The gold flecks are subtle, and I did find my face to actually be more radiant. It kinda had a shimmering glow to it, which I was totally digging!
I am definitely going to try using these products first thing in the morning, so I can show off the glow they create. Lets be honest, I am probably going to use them in the morning and at bed time now!
Have you tried any products with snails in them? Let me know! I'd love to know what you thought!

My Mom Uniform
4/06/2016
During the week, (if I'm not in my workout clothes coming from the gym 😉) you can most likely find me in an outfit similar to this one. An easy top, stretchy jeans, fun flats and a cute jacket are usually my uniform. Being a Mom and running after a toddler (especially one throwing a tantrum, which happened today 🙈 ), requires me to be able to move around but not wanting to sacrifice my style. What does your uniform look like?
