The 90s Called
4/08/2019
The 90s called, and I'm not sad about it.
When I was a little fashionista in elementary school, I really wanted a pair of Doc Martens boots. They were pricey and my Mom said no way girl.
When I saw these boots at a local thrift store, it was meant to be. They were brand new, in my size and only $30.
This great floral dress I found at Shop the Skinny, which I nostalgically call my Little House on the Prairie dress. The puff sleeves are so fun and a dress with pockets is always a win!
What 90s trends are you loving right now? Let me know down below!

Tips for Curing the Winter Blues
1/23/2019
Can we all talk about how it feels like it's January 57th right now? Honestly, why does this month just seem to drag on and on? I've been trying to keep myself busy and do things that bring me joy. I want to share what's been helping me cure those winter blues, and this never ending month.
First up is doing nice things for myself. It can be different for everyone but this is how it looks for me:
-Treat yourself to a few special skin care products (Pictured above is Pura Botanicals Ambrosia Beautifying Serum and Lalicious Body Butter from Niche Beauty). Winter in Alberta is long, and I find this month especially hard on the skin. Feeling better on the outside can help a little bit on how you feel on the inside too. Both of these products are amazing for adding some moisture to my skin.
-Find a shirt or clothing item that makes you happy and wear it well. This Pink Blush Pink Faded Waffle Knit Crochet Trim Front Knot Top has been in constant rotation, and I am always so happy to put it on. They have such a great selection tops right now and I noticed they keep getting more and more spring inspired pieces in daily.
-Find inspiration somewhere else besides your phone. Instagram and Pinterest can start to look all the same after awhile, and there is something satisfying about flipping through a book. I've been trying to read more books in general lately. This Domino one is old but still a goodie, plus it's so pretty on the shelf.
-Go to bed early! This is so hard for me but I know it's so good for me on so many levels.
-Get out of the house! It can be so easy to just stay inside but it becomes boring, repetitive and depressing after awhile. The hubby and I snuck away during the day for a date (which hasn't happened in forever). We went to one of my favourite places, Moth Cafe.
P.s- Wearing my favourite, feel good top from Pink Blush above.
I like to share some of my favourite ways for beating the winter blues with my kids. I think they start to feel it too.
-Bring a little spring inside. Fresh flowers always help brighten my mood and give me a glimpse into the spring to come. These tulips were $4.99 at Save On Foods, which was worth it. Plus they are still going a week later. Emery also felt so special having fresh flowers in her room, and she was so excited to pick out what color she wanted.
-Swap out the kids books. I periodically swap out the books in the kids rooms, and also keep ones for different seasons tucked away till the time comes. I have books for Fall, Christmas, Winter, Valentine's Day, etc. I pulled out the winter ones after Christmas, and the kids were happy to have some fresh books to read. I also love getting seasonal books from our local library.
What are your tips for beating the Winter Time Blues? Share below!
Happy Almost* February!

Floral Maxi Dress
1/03/2019
I always love a good maxi dress, in fact I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to maxi dresses. This Pink Blush Navy Blue Printed Tie Front Maxi Dress I am currently obsessed with. Pink Blush always has the most amazing and beautiful dresses and this one is no exception.
When I was pregnant Pink Blush was a life saver. Their maternity line is awesome, with such a wide variety of styles and always on trend. I was so happy to discover that they also have a beautiful women's line that is non-maternity.
What I especially love about this dress is that it will be a great a piece to transition into spring and summer. I can just swap out the boots & tights for ankle boots and then sandals.
Have you bought any pieces from Pink Blush before?

Paris in Edmonton
11/28/2018
Who would have known it could look like Paris in Edmonton? La Boule Bakery off Whyte Ave is filled with delicious treats and the cutest chairs outside. My beret definitely helped with this illusion, haha!
This Eclectic Blouse from Anthropologie is a new favourite. It's comfy, bright and easily dresses up a pair of jeans. This particular color way is sold out but you can find it in a new print here.
Whenever I wear a beret, I'm never sure if it's on right, haha! Anyone else feel that way?

Fall Picnics
11/13/2018
This fall we have been working through Brittany Viklund's Fall Bucket List. She's one of my favourite people to follow on Instagram, and every season she releases an adorable bucket list with her cute illustrations.
Emery and I have been checking off things together, and she just loves it! A couple weeks ago, I knew the snow was coming so we packed the kids up on the last nice fall day and had a picnic in this little forest.
Fun fact, we actually took maternity photos here when I was pregnant with Emery. It really is amazing how fast time goes by.
Both of the kids outfits I thrifted, which I find so satisfying. Speaking of thrifting, go check out my new Instagram account, Kastles. I'm opening a vintage and pre-loved little shop filled with goodies for babies, kids, Mamas and your home.
Alder is so independent now, he has to walk everywhere by himself. He won't let me even hold his hand anymore, haha!
I can't wait for Brittany's Holiday Bucket List. I guess it's still fall for my American friends since they haven't had Thanksgiving yet. It straight up feels like Christmas over here with all the snow, haha!
This outfit contains some of my favourite pieces from Anthropologie's fall arrivals. You can never go wrong with plaid for fall (or really any time of the year) and this Morganne Longline Jacket is great as a light jacket or as a sweater once it gets colder. Now does anyone have an insane obsession with waffle knit shirts? This knotted waffle top is hard not to wear everyday. What are your favourite pieces for fall?

A Little Mom Self Care Goes a Long Way
8/15/2018
Whenever I go shopping for a new top, I tend to gravitate towards white blouses for some reason. Which is really practical with toddlers, right? So last time I went searching for a new blouse, I decided to mix it up and go for this bright red Free People one. Although I did see that Anthropologie had a very similar white one which of course I'm digging too, haha!
It seems lately, that most days, I don't really do my hair or put on make-up, let alone wear anything cute. I spend so much time focusing on feeding the kids and getting them ready for the day, that getting myself ready falls to the wayside. Why as Moms do we tend to do this? It's so hard finding the balance of looking after your family and looking after yourself.
I've been trying to do things such as curling my hair the night before, planning the kids outfits and setting them out, prepping snacks & sticking them in the fridge and more to help getting ready easier for the next day. This way I have a little more time to get ready and look put together.
Another secret hack of mine? If we are going out for the day, I buckle the kids in to their car seats and then I sit and do my make-up in the car. They are usually happy and content reading books or playing, so it's a win-win. Any other Moms do this?
I always feel better when I am dressed in something other then sweats, with my hair done and a little make-up on. Is anyone else this way? It's just a little basic self care for Mama that goes a long way. Anyone else this way? Share your tips and tricks with me!

Mandolin Books & Coffee Company
5/22/2018
One of my favourite things to do is search for antique books, especially kids books. Another one of my favourite things to do is to go for coffee with my friends. So naturally I was excited upon discovering Mandolin Books & Coffee Company in the Highlands area in Edmonton. That area is bustling with unique and fun shops, definitely a fun place to spend the afternoon!
They have a wonderful variety of second hand books, with newer titles and vintage ones. I picked up a beautiful vintage Bible story book for Emery. There is more information about the books they carry here. They have a little patio in the back during the warmer months, as well as seating inside. I would say it's not really stroller friendly, unless you use a tiny umbrella stroller.
I thought these little "Blind Date with a Book" bundles were so very cute! The store also has a Coffee Shop with a variety of snacks, coffee and drinks. I would highly recommend the vegan cookies, so yummy! What are some hidden gems in your city?

Mama Bird
4/04/2018
I have done so much purging in my closet the last couple of months. I'm really down to only a few tops that currently fit and that I feel good wearing. This Mama Bird Muscle Tee by The Bee and The Fox that I got from Shop The Skinny is one piece that is in constant rotation.
This Mama Bird Tee is a piece I thought about for quite awhile before I purchased it. I have been trying not to impulse buy things and only picking pieces I love. I have also been trying to be more aware of where I am buying my clothes and where they are made, I'll share more on that another time.
This T-Shirt also comes in cream & in a different style but it's more form fitting then I am into these days. I'm also really digging The Tough As a Mother Sweatshirt as well. I'm looking for a few more t-shirts to add to my collection, what are some of your favourites?

Dressing Up
1/09/2018
These days I'm really bad at dressing in anything other than sweats, or leggings. Especially if we aren't leaving the house. One of my goals is to try and change that, and actually put some effort into my appearance. It's hard trying to get a baby, a toddler and yourself ready for the day. Any tips would be welcome!
These photos are from a little awhile ago when Aaron, Alder and I went on a date. It's funny how going on a date with a baby is so much easier then going out with a toddler & baby, haha!
This black vest from Joe Fresh has been such a great layering piece. It's always a nice bonus when clothing has pockets too, right?
These velvet flats actually have ankle straps, and I can't wait to wear them again once winter is over. This ruffle bell sleeve blouse from Anthropologie is proving to be a winner in my closet. You can see how I styled it here and here. It's been a great top throughout my pregnancy and postpartum.
Can you even handle this cuteness? My husband is always trying to get Alder to walk by holding his hands, and I'm over here like "slow down! my baby is growing up too fast!".
Hopefully telling you all that I plan on wearing more then sweats will help keep me accountable (I'm wearing pjs as I'm typing this, haha!).
