Spring Forward

3/20/2017
Maternity style

I can't believe that it's the first official day of Spring! Of course spring in Alberta means there is still snow on the ground and it will probably snow again, haha!

It has been warmer out which means I can finally wear some of my maxi dresses. I am so happy about this since I am starting to get sick of a lot of my wardrobe, well at least what still fits. Haha!

This floral maxi dress from Pink Blush is the most insanely comfortable dress I have probably ever worn. And it's equally as cute! Another thing I love about this dress is that it is also a nursing dress, so I can wear it after baby comes.

There are really so many pretty dresses and other pieces on their site. I think this dress would be so beautiful to wear for Maternity photos, or this one.

Pink Blush also has non-maternity clothes too, including this dress in other colors. I have a feeling I will be wearing it a lot over the next little while as this belly keeps expanding. Also make sure to check out this Instagram post to see how you can win a $75 Gift Card to Pink Blush!

Only about a month & a half to go! I feel like I still have so much to do! Any tips on preparing for the second babe?

My Little Beauty

Toddler Beauty and the Beast Dress

For the last couple of months we have been listening to the "Beauty and the Beast" soundtrack, watching YouTube Clips and parts of the Christmas movie all the time. Emery is obsessed with the Beast and Belle. We actually don't have the DVD and have yet to let her watch the whole movie. She might be a little too young to watch it as there are some scary parts in it.

When she saw this June & January dress in her closet she immediately called it her "Belle" dress. She would wear it every day if I let her, haha!

I want adventure in the great wide somewhere

I have been trying to think of something new to spell out on our Letterfolk letter board, and this lyric from the Beauty and the Beast movie came to mind. It's after Belle turns down Gaston because she is little Miss Independent and doesn't want to be his wife.

"I want much more than this provincial life
I want adventure in the great wide somewhere
I want it more than I can tell
And for once it might be grand
To have someone understand
I want so much more than they've got planned"

-Belle

Emery is a lot like Belle, maybe that's why she likes her so much. She's full of life, adventurous, independent, stubborn, loves singing and reading books. I hope Emery always has an adventurous and independent spirit!

So naturally I will be dragging my husband to the new Beauty and the Beast movie starring Emma Watson. Actually I know he will just say I'm dragging him, but I know he's just as into it. Haha!

Are you guys excited for this remake movie?

Current Skincare Favourites

3/14/2017

Can we talk about how Winter should have been over by now? Myself and my skin are so over it! Thankfully these wonderful skincare products are always saving my butt! Here is a little run down of my current skincare favourites.

I love the wide range of products Rodial offers. I have been a fan of their Snake serums in the past, so I knew this Snake Moisturizer O2 would be right up my alley.
The syn-ake dipeptide and hyaluronic acid combo definitely makes my skin feel instantly tighter when I put it on. I like using it underneath my SPF (which I put on everyday, all about the sun protection).

You can never, ever go wrong by anything from Fresh Beauty. They are one of my all time favourite skincare lines. I am a huge tea fan so naturally the Black Tea line is right up my alley. I adore this Age-Delay Eye Concentrate and always put it on before bed. When I wake up underneath my eyes still feel super hydrated and smooth. If you've never tried anything from them before I would suggest this little kit, it's packed with some of their top products.

My skin has been extra dry this winter, so I love slathering this Belif The True-Cream Aqua Bomb on. It's a light gel cream that cools & refreshes the skin while adding extra hydration. I usually put it on early evening after I've taken off my make-up. It's also sulfate, paraben and phthalate free which is an awesome added bonus!

This Estee Lauder Advance Night Repair is seriously amazing. It's a repair serum that helps to fight all those lovely fine lines. I put it on after cleansing my face before bed. The nice thing is a little goes a long way with this bottle. If your skin is feeling dry or dull, this instantly makes it feel more radiant. It also pairs wickedly with the Revitalizing Supreme + Global Ant-Aging Cell Power Creme.

As you know I am huge fan of AVEDA hair products as seen here, so I was so excited when I heard they came out with a skincare line. Naturally I fell in love with it right away. This Tulasara Radiant Oleation Oil is different from other skincare products I've used before. You are suppose to apply the oil in the morning as part of your morning ritual. It comes with a beautiful soft brush. You brush your face first then apply the oil. After you apply the oil you are suppose to relax, drink a cup of tea or something along those lines for about ten minutes. Then you wash your face. I absolutely love the smell of it and how my face feels after using the brush and oil. Realistically with a toddler in tow, I don't always have to time to do it.

Last but not least, probably my favourite skin care product of all time: Pura Botanicals Overnight Watermelon Mask. Oh man, it is just so so good! If you haven't heard of Pura Botanicals before you need their products in your life. I wrote about them here before. Anyway this mask is amazing. It smells absolutely divine, like a delicious dessert. It is super thick, rich, creamy and so moisturizing. You are suppose to put it onto clean skin before bed and wash it off in the morning. I usually end up leaving it on the morning because my skin just feels so lovely. If you are looking for an everyday cream, I would suggest the Sweet Face Cream.

What have been your favourite skincare products this winter? Share with me your picks please! I am always looking for new products to try!

Our Current Favourite Kids Books

Reading with toddlers

If you have been a reader of my blog for awhile now, you probably know that this little lady loves books. She loves reading by herself and being read to. I think we started reading books to her when she was just a few months old. I still remember her tiny little body all cuddled up to her Daddy while he read to her. Such a sweet memory!

We are always on the look out for new books, varying in style, theme and stories. We are sharing our current favourites below.

Toddler Books

Love is by Diane Adams, Illustrated by Claire Keane

Oh man, when we first read this book it made me cry. I mean it might have a little to do with the pregnancy hormones, but it really is so sweet. It is about a little girl who has a baby duck that she mothers and eventually sets it free. The illustrations are so beautiful, and the little girls outfits are so chic!

Cozy Classics-Jane Austen's Emma by Jack & Holman Wang

If you haven't had a peek at the Cozy Classics books yet, you need to! Each page is has a cute little scene created with felt pieces. Beside each picture on the opposite page is a word that corresponds to the picture. It's a great book for early learning and teaching them simple words.

Toddler book review

Wolf in the Snow by Matthew Cordell

This book tells a story about a lost little wolf pup and little girl. The book has no words, just illustrations. The little girl helps the wolf pup find his family but gets lost doing so. The Wolf Pack then help the little girl get back to her family. I found this book was a little bit too old for Emery to understand at this point but will be good for her in a year or so.

The Wish Tree by Kyo Maclear, Pictures by Chris Turnham

This story is about a boy Charles and his Toboggan (named Boggan) out on a adventure to find a Wish tree. On their way looking for such a tree they come across lots of Forrest creatures who they end up helping. They eventually find a Wish tree and tie a wish to it. All the animals throw a magical Forest feast for Charles and Boggan. My favourite part about the book is how Charles & Boggan help out the animals. It's a sweet little story about friendship. Also the illustrations are just magical!

Wee Society Books

An Incomplete Book of Awesome Things by Wee Society

Wee Society has some of the cutest & most creative books and toys out there. This fun book has different pictures of unique things on each page. It also has the word describing each picture below. You get to go through the book and decide which things you think are awesome. Emery really loves the illustrations and putting her finger on each word trying to read them. It's a great book for building her vocabulary.

Me A Compendium by Wee Society

This book is a super fun fill-in journal for kids. Emery is too little for it now but I can't wait till she is old enough to fill it in. It has places for them to draw and write in, asking fun things such as what they would bring to outer space, what their hair looks like and how they feel about snakes. It will make such a beautiful keepsake too look back on when they are older. I think this type of book would also make a great gift!
