Mama and mini

Oh Mom worry, my fickle little friend. If you are a Mom, you probably know what I am talking about. I spend a lot of my time worrying about my daughter. There are nights I have spent just lying there worrying about the most obscure things while my husband falls asleep next to me in two seconds flat. I worry about things that happened that day, or what is going to happen the next day, or in a few months and even years down the road. Some things I worry about are if she's too hot or cold when she's sleeping, what the heck that rash is, if she's getting enough to eat, if she is going to cry the whole time at sunday school, if she will have nice, kind friends growing up, or if she will find a sweet husband like her Dad. The list goes on. I know that this is totally normal but it also can become all too much. It ultimately can start to take over your life. It can become time consuming and takes joy away from the present moment. I want to share with you a few tips that I have found helpful in dealing with it:

1.) Pray:
If I am being completely honest, this isn't always my first instinct. I am trying so hard to give up my worries to God first and foremost. When something bad happens or you are worrying about something, it can be hard not to jump onto Google first. I'm trying to talk to God first instead of Google, haha. I've memorized a Bible verse, so that when these worries first pop into my head I try and recite it instead of worrying. Matthew 6:34 "Therefore do no worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." I love how this verse speaks so much truth to me. It's just simple and makes so much sense.

2.) Talk to another Mom :
I am incredibly blessed to have several friends who are fellow Mom's with kids around the same age as Emery. It is so great to have other people who know what you are going through and to support one another. Whenever something comes up with Emery & I am not always sure what's going on, I know I can count on these ladies for help. Chances are they had the same worry, or had a similar thing happen. They will also tell you if you are being absolutely ridiculous which is exactly what you need to hear sometimes. If you don't have friends with kids, check out Facebook to find a Moms group in your area. Chances are there will be one and they will be super helpful!

3.) Write it down:
This one is pretty simple but very satisfying. Write down whatever you are worrying about, however big or small it is. Write them all down a piece of paper. It feels kinda good to put your words down on paper. Then take that paper and rip it into a million pieces. That feels even better! It's like telling all those worries to take a hike!

4.) Exercise:
This can be as easy as going for a run or walk, or if you are feeling like you really need to get rid of those worries go and punch some sand bags! Exercise is such a great stress reliever and helps gets the good endorphins flowing! It's always hard to start your workout but after your done you will feel so much better and have a great sense of accomplishment. You will also most likely have forgotten about your worries because you were concentrating on those darn burps instead!

5.) Do something relaxing :
One of my favourite ways to relax and forget about my worries is to have a nice long, warm bubble bath. Pour yourself a fancy drink, light a candle or two and grab yourself a trashy magazine to get lost in. Another personal favourite is to go for a massage. If you have good benefits, sometimes massages are even covered! It's a great way to get out of the house and take time for yourself. Sometimes I even fall asleep and have a little cat nap. Lets face it, what Mom couldn't use a nap?

I hope this helped you a little bit if your a Mom or even if your not :). Thanks for taking the time to read it. Let me know how you deal with worrying below.
