Back to School with MCC Thrift
9/17/2020
I can't believe it is already Fall! Where did summer go?
This year going back to school looks a little different, and we are just rolling with it.
One of my favourite memories about going Back-to-School was shopping for new clothes! I loved getting to pick out my First Day of School outfit. Even though Back to School is at home this year for us, I still wanted to keep things fun and special by taking her to pick out her first day Back-to-School outfit. I'm pretty sure she grew a thousand inches over the summer, so she definitely needed some new duds.
Emery and I had a special date, we grabbed cookies and coffee (just for me of course 😉) to go, and headed to MCC Thrift Edmonton.
MCC Thrift is a network of not-for-profit Thrift Shops, that support the local and global relief, development and peace projects of Mennonite Central Committee. MCC works all over the world. I am passionate about immigrants and refugees, and love how MCC works to support those groups.
I already love thrifting but I especially love that the money from my purchases are doing some actual good in my community and the world. It's also such an amazing place to donate your gently used items as well!
I have been thrifting my entire life, thanks to my Mama and Nana! I have such fond memories as a kid thrifting with them, and I hope that my kids grow up having the same memories.
There are SO many reasons I love thrifting.
1.) You can find so many unique and cool items!
2.) Reduce, Reuse and Recycle! Thrifting is so, so, so good for the environment! It gives items a new life, and new home that isn't the dump.
3.) Saving money! MCC Thrift in Edmonton younger kids clothes were 5 items for $1! Which is also extra amazing when kids grow out of clothes so fast! I found tons of awesome items for Emery and Alder. So perfect for Back to School!
I picked up this whole pile of goodies for the kids, and a few items for myself! Plus kids books, Halloween craft kits (brand new), and Halloween costumes! Halloween costumes are also repurposed in our house as dress up clothes. The kids LOVE playing dress up. They had so many amazing items for Back-to-School, including Backpacks, clothes, shoes, books and more!
I highly recommend checking out to find the nearest MCC Thrift to you for all your Back-to-School needs!
What is the most amazing vintage/thrifted find you have ever found? I love hearing what people find thrifting!
Have a wonderful week!

Life Lately

It seems like this time of the year is busy, go go go! Emery and I always seem to be heading out the door during the week. We can't wait for the end of the month when Dada will be done work for the summer!
If you follow along on Snapchat (kastlescamponi) you will see I have been filling my house with Peonies from the yard. I usually like to put out a tray on my Gold Flamingo ottoman from Obviously Chic filled with favourite mags, flowers & trinkets. I picked up the latest Ban.do Agenda for next year, because if you are Ban.do fan like me these bad boys sell out super fast!
Since Em and I have been spending a lot more time outside my hair has been a little on the crispy side. I picked up a little treat for my hair from Sephora the other day for a extra little conditioning. I thought I would give Bumble and Bumble's Invisible Oil Conditioner a try. I also picked up a few other goodies included Dr.Jart+ Black Charcoal Mask (that everyone seems to be raving about) & Josie Maran's Whipped Argan Oil.
One trend I keep seeing pop up is slip on sandals & little spaghetti strap dresses. I can get behind the sandals but I am having a hard time committing to any sort of spaghetti strap situation. Mostly because I'm not into wearing a strapless bra, haha! I thought these tan sandals from Joe Fresh would be a nice break from my Birkenstocks (my Birkenstock tan is outta control!).
I have a monthly subscription to Julep, which means each month I get a curated box of their latest beauty products. They are mostly nail polish based but lately they have been stepping it up with some fun beauty products. The last couple of months I have been opting out mostly because we are trying to save moola but I forgot this month. It was a pleasant surprise to see it in my mailbox, plus they always sneak a little candy into each box :).
I've really been struggling with that last 5-10 pounds of baby weight (more on that later 😜), and this cute scalloped bikini from Old Navy has been my motivation. June has been my lets kick some butt month in the fitness & health department.
Poor Emery, her little room is still in progress, although let's be honest she doesn't really notice. Uashmama sent over this adorable Rose Quartz Paper Bag (yes it's made out of paper!) and I love sticking all her cute girlie things in it. It might have to make an appearance in the living room with some peonies in it 😉.
Happy Friday everyone!

When I was younger every night before bed, I would spend at least an hour reading. Depending on the book, I would read late into the night ( I'm looking at you Harry Potter!). Then came along University where I had to read, and reading wasn't just for fun anymore ( I suppose if you were a real keener you might have enjoyed reading in University ;)). Of course the iPhone showed up & all reading before bed was long forgotten. I know I'm not the only one guilty of scrolling through my phone in bed before the lights are out. Doing this usually has me stressing and worrying about things I have to do right before I go to sleep. So starting last night I decided to start reading for fun before bed again. My Mom & I went and picked up some books from Chapters this week. This is our list:

We picked books based on popularity and something that wasn't too heavy. I'm well aware we are a little behind on the Jojo Moyes books (apparently Me Before You has been turned into a movie, coming out in the spring) but better late then never, right? If you know me, you know what a huge Audrey Hepburn fan I am. Naturally I had to pick up Lucy Holliday's novel to read as well!
Another thing I'm trying to do more is indulging myself in a few fun bath products. I am a long time fan of having hot baths (I know it's not everyones cup of tea) so these Herbivore Botanicals bath goodies my sister got me are just perfect. Not to mention I can kill two bird with one stone, enjoy a luxurious bath while reading one of my new books. If I'm feeling extra adventurous I might even pour a glass of wine and light a candle! I'm crazy like that!

Life
I've decided since it's the New Year and I turned 30 this past week, I need to buckle down & focus on some goals of mine. I feel like writing these down and publishing them for the world to see helps to keep me accountable.
Goals:
1.) Clean & decorate my office:
This may seem boring but my messy office really has been blocking my creative juices. My office/closet has turned into a dumping ground. You know, when you are having people over and are trying to hide everything. Yup, we dump it all in that room. I just feel if I have a pretty space just for me, I might actually be more productive & inspired.
2.) Work with other inspirational women:
There are so many wonderful and inspiring women that I know or follow on social media. They constantly inspire me in so many ways. I love the idea of us working together to build each other up. On social media there can be a lot of negativity, comparison & cattiness with women. I want to steer clear of that & focus on how awesome these women are!
3.) Try new ideas on the blog:
I often write the same type of posts on this blog. I would love to step outside of my comfort zone & create some new types of posts for you lovely readers. Some ideas I have thought of so far are food posts, videos, and beauty tutorials.
4.) Partner with my favourite brands:
There are a couple of brands that I have been loyal to for years and I would love to work with them. The negative side of me thinks that will never happen. I've decided to ignore that voice & push forward. Even if it seems like a pipe dream, I am going to keep trying.
5.) Create a line:
One of my longtime dreams is to own/create a line. I have a background in fashion design and visual studies. I would really like to put some of those talents to use. I have a few ideas of what I want to do, so keep your eyes peeled.
Basically I just want to be the ultimate girl boss and create beauty to add to this world. Hit me up if you have any office organization ideas or tips, would like to work together, have suggestions for new blog posts or what you would like to see on this space, tips for working with your favourite brands or any suggestions at all. Comment below or email me at kastles.camponi@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
